Nice scenic drive up to the public parking spot just below the observatory. Views of Mauna Kea in the distance on a clear day is absolutely amazing! Take care on the narrow, winding roads. The road is fully paved though and easily accessible by 2WD vehicles.
Great place to work if you enjoy magnificent vistas of splendid moon-like desolation and top-down views of clouds, superb isolation, and a gorgeous view of the night sky.
Worth the drive, views are incredible. No access to the observatory itself.
SO FUN! It's a great place to just hang out and watch the stars. I hope not too many people go up there tho, it's usually not very crowded.
