This is by far my favorite coffee on Kauai. I stock up here every year. Pakala is also available at AH! Coffee Shop in Lihue. I like to buy a big bag from this wholesale shop and split it into smaller vacuum bags and distribute these as gifts. The big bag is $65 I believe. The roaster is a really friendly guy too. It's an unmarked building because it's not a retail shop. You can't buy a hot coffee here, but you can buy the best damn roasted coffee bean on the island (imo). I am an espresso freak. I've been making espresso from Pakala for about three years now. It's a medium roast, but not too light not too dark. I like my espresso sweet and savory and I never add sugar. I grind my pakala very very finely with a burr grinder. I'm currently in France and Spain for a couple months and of course I'm enjoying Pakala every step of the way. Also tasting local coffee's but they really don't appreciate coffee in Europe the same way they appreciate their Wine and Food. This is the first year the local market in France has had Moka from Ethiopia and Arabica from Congo. That was a huge surprise and they sold out so I guess I'm not the only coffee snob out there :).
