I too used one of the walking stick that you can find at the beginning of the trail.

Greatest views in entire Waimea Canyon. Great hike!

Moderate hike. Pretty much downhill to the end of the trail, which means you'll be going uphill the whole way back. Trail can be a bit muddy, and we didn't see any mosquitoes, but we did have insect repellent on. We did see lots of gnats or fruit flies. The views at the end of the trail are spectacular, we arrived in the morning, while it was cooler for the hike, much of the valley was in shadow. If you prefer to avoid that, plan to arrive at the end around mid-day or in the afternoon.

On a day without rain this 6 mile round trip hike more than rewards the effort. A little bit muddy the first mile in, then the grades are not too steep and the terrain is not too rough. It’s easier on the knees than some of the other trails. I did take a hard sit once, some spots are slick. Grab a stick at the bottom of the trail and get ready for a spectacular view! Around four and a half hours round trip taking it fairly easy.

This is an out and back trail. Total length about 6.5 miles. The way out is nearly all downhill so plan your water usage appropriately. There are no places to fill up along the way. Nothing special with most of the hike - it follows a sometimes muddy and narrow trail through the forest with limited views of the coast. The end makes it all worthwhile as you are treated to amazing and steep views of the Kauai coastline. Be careful because you are literally right on the edge of steep drop-offs. The way back is relatively steep but as long as the weather is good you shouldn't have much trouble.

Really nice walk of about one hour and a half, with an amazing view at the end on the Na pali coast. Definitely worth it.
