Some great stuff to read but not to see... red dirt and piles of rocks. If you have time to waste, go, but I do not recommend.
Not sure how to best describe this place. The history behind it is cool, but seeing as you're not supposed to actually climb up onto it and look inside, it basically came down to being a pile of rocks to look at. A very very very large pile of rocks. There is a beach nearby, but the whole place is inhabited by homeless people. I felt like i was invading their privacy honestly. I ended up leaving. Probably much cooler for a history buff, but i didnt get much out of it. If it's en route to some other destination, no harm stopping by.
Pretty location and interesting story but not much is left of the fort...looks like a pile of red rock. If you are a serious history buff or you need a bathroom stop go for it...otherwise it is easy to skip.
Cool place to stop and get a quick history lesson. I enjoyed it.
As underwhelming as a luau at the Komitet Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnosti who used to refuel their spy ships here not so long ago.
You can find about Captain Cook landing there and why the Russians built it on the internet.
