This is a must see, even for people who don't like nature much. You can literally stay in your car and get some nice views.

So we really didn't spend much time here. We took a tour and rode bikes down the hill. Still, the area is beautiful. This is the drier side of the island but still worth the visit.

A beautiful state park with lots of hiking trails and lookouts. The road through the park is narrow and winding and not well marked at all. Be careful as there are lots of cars pulled over on the shoulder at various spots to look out over the gorgeous canyon. There are some spectacular views of the canyon and waterfalls throughout this park. Absolutely breathtaking

The canyon is a sight. Amazing.

Must see for any first time tourist. This is the dry part of the island. It's more Mediterranean than tropical. Saw a cactus on the way there. It's a smaller scale grand canyon. It will take a full day to drive and do a decent hike.

There is do much to do at waimea canyon state park. My favorite thing was the red dirt that permanently stained my clothes. It's so rich and pretty. The views and outlooks are phenomenal, and i even got to see a few three horned sheep grazing at one of the outlooks. The weather is crazy. It was hot and sunny on one side, and then we went to the other and it was raining hard and it was literally impossible to see anything except for fog... and rain.

The view from this place is awesome. You get to see the great hills and vistas around on the Kauai island. What is disappointing is the lack of any food and refreshments around in the place apart from one vendor who was selling fruits and a bit of small eats. The place could definitely do with better eating facilities especially as it is an uphill drive and families especially with kids might want to have a meal while spending time up there.
