The hike to the falls is basically all downhill with lots of roots to step over and could be quite muddy and slippery after a rain, but it brings you to some incredible views of the valley and right to the top of the falls.
Kauai Shoe Advice...
ワイメア渓谷でオススメのトレッキング。滝までは、往復で3、4時間ほど。プウヒナヒナ展望台から急勾配を下っていく道と道路沿いに車をとめて緩やかなオフロードの坂道を下っていく行き方があります。
Very hard hike, but fun, not recommend for kids.
This post is just about shoes! Read the other reviews for gushing posts about the beauty of nature! It rains an average of 260 days per year in Kauai. Don't let that stop you, the rain is comfortable and rarely cold, and often passes within minutes followed by sunshine. However this means that most days you hike it will be muddy. Your feet and calves will get covered in slick wet mud when you hike this trail. Do not wear flip flops or you will struggle a lot. Even wearing runners that have a flat tread it will feel like you are walking on ice, it's so slick once your shoes get covered. Runners or hikers with an agressive tread will be best. They don't need to be heavy duty... They just need to have a good tread. If you came on vacation without shoes like that, you can still do the hike but it will be a bit of a slog and you may fall a few times in the mud. Just take your time and enjoy it either way!!
The falls and the vistas on the way to the falls are more than worth the 1 hour hike. We took 1 hour and 6 minutes to hike in and 48 minutes to hike out. The hike out showed "70 floors" climbed on my Fitbit, so be ready for a bit of up and down both in and out.
Not a terribly hard hike. Excellent scenery.
